Turkey Tactics Tournament Report

Nearly 140 players joined us for our November Turkey Tactics tournament (try saying that ten times fast!). The turnout was almost as large as our anniversary tournament. More than a third of the entries were provided for free: 34 for female players and 24 for low-income/rural players. Thirty players participated in their first USCF-rated tournament, 80% of whom received free USCF memberships through Puddletown.

Several afterschool chess clubs attended the tournament as teams: Sherman County School, Rose City Park, Roseway Heights, and Orenco chess clubs. The latter three teams received funding from Puddletown.

John Hart donated $100 to fund a special new prize: perfect scorers in the under (A, B, C) sections received $20 each. Thank you for your generosity, Mr. Hart!
