2023 September First Anniversary Tournament Report

It was just one year ago when Puddletown had its first event at a pizza parlor with 20 players. Now, one year later, we had almost 100 players at our first-anniversary tournament. We’d like to thank everyone who has been supporting us. In the past year, Puddletown Chess provided over 100 free tournament entries to female and low-income players. We also made over $4000 cash donations to local chess organizations.

In this First Anniversary event, we had 26 players with free entries. In addition, this is the first rated chess tournament for 15 new players. Shoutout to the Sherman County School chess team, who had to wake up at 5 a.m. (!) for a 3-hour school bus ride to this event. Also congratulations to Lincoln High School’s chess team. Their players won most of the trophies in the top section! We would like to thank Jimmy John’s, Target, and Dave’s Hot Chicken for their donation of raffle prizes.
