Welcome to Pudddletown’s August Seminar with WIM/FM Zoey Tang! From 7pm to 8pm Zoey will talk about the Petrov (or Russian) Defense – a great opening for beginner- and intermediate- players.
The Petrov Defense recently experienced a resurgence in popularity, played by many top players in elite tournaments (even up to the world championships!). Though it has a drawish reputation, it offers attacking opportunities for both sides. This defense is a solid option for black and will often surprise your opponents. Learn from Zoey how to play this opening as black, and how to play against it as white using model games from top players.
