2023 October Tournament Report

Puddletown had another amazing turnout to the October Tournament with over 60 players! Huge shoutout to the Sherman County School chess team, who had to wake up at 5 a.m. (again!) to drive for almost 3 hours just to play in this tournament.

Of the 60 players, 3 played their first tournament, 19 were girls who received free entry for the event, and 1 free entry to a player with low-income.

Now, for our prizes (even score medals were given to players who got 2 points, plus score medals for people with 2.5 points or more, and trophies to the top 3 in each section (by tiebreaks).

The U400 section was the biggest with almost 30 players, and our winners are:

  • Even score medalists: Elias P, Liang S, Kevin Q, Stephen C, Sophia L, Nirvaan C, Ben S, and August K
  • Plus score medalists: Sreshtav G, Xiao S, Aarna D, Nathan L, Chenfan Z, and Arian R
  • 3rd Place: Matisse J
  • 2nd Place: Ishaan S
  • 1st place: Gabriel G

U800 has the following winners:

  • Even score medalists: Avery H, Lucas M, Kavish D, Cohen B, Ivy C, Lasya V, Ray B, and Gage S
  • Plus score medalists: Jeffrey Z, Beatrix K, Roman D, and Abigail H
  • 3rd place: Eesha J
  • 2nd place: Lucas T
