Kai Bio

Kai Lewis is a junior at Oregon Episcopal School. He began playing chess in second grade in Southern California. He competed in several local and statewide tournaments beginning in third grade. After moving to Oregon, he regularly plays in Portland Chess Club and OSCF tournaments. He has competed at the OCSF State Championship in Seaside for 3 years and has placed both second and third in the high school platinum section. This year, Kai will represent Oregon at the Denker National Tournament of High School State Champions. Kai has previous experience teaching chess to 3rd graders when he was in middle school. Kai also enjoys scuba diving, long distance biking and photography.

  • 2024 OSCF State Championship – 2nd Place High School Platinum 
  • 2024 Oregon High School Chess Team Association – 2nd Place Board 2 (Oregon Episcopal School)
  • 2023 Oregon Junior Closed – 3rd Place Championship Section
  • 2023 Oregon Open Blitz Championship – 7th Place Open Section
  • 2023 OSCF State Championship – 3rd Place High School Platinum 
  • 2022 Oregon Junior Closed – 3rd Place Challenger Section
  • 2022 Oregon Chess Federation Class Championship – 2nd Place Class B
