Volunteer Fundraising Manager

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to assume the role of Fundraising Manager within our team. As a valued volunteer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to enhance chess education and foster community engagement. The Fundraising Manager will take charge of developing and executing fundraising strategies essential for securing financial support for our diverse programs and initiatives.

In this position, you will help mainly with:

Develop Fundraising Strategies:

  • Collaborate closely with the leadership team to formulate comprehensive fundraising plans aligned with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Identify and prioritize potential funding sources, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and government grants.

Grant Writing and Proposal Development:

  • Research and identify relevant grant opportunities.
  • Prepare compelling grant proposals and applications, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and objectives.

Event Planning and Execution:

  • Proactively identify diverse funding opportunities to support our programs and initiatives.
  • Organize and coordinate fundraising events, such as charity tournaments, galas, and online campaigns.
  • Work with volunteers and event committees to ensure successful execution and maximum participation.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Volunteer Marketing and Social Media Manager

We are seeking a Marketing and Social Media Manager who will help us spread the mission, vision and the good work that Puddletown Chess is doing. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for developing and executing simple marketing strategies to enhance Puddletown’s online presence and outreach. Your role will involve creating engaging content for various social media platforms, managing social media accounts, and monitoring analytics to track the effectiveness of campaigns. Collaborating with the founders, coaches and other volunteers, you will contribute to the development of promotional materials, ensuring consistency in branding and messaging. This volunteer position offers a unique opportunity to leverage and grow your marketing skills in a meaningful way, contributing to the success and visibility of Puddletown Chess. In this position, you will help mainly with:

  • Create, share and analyze the effectiveness of our social media content.
  • Lead marketing campaigns to attract players, coaches, and donations.
  • Collaborate closely with founders to create novel and engaging blog content – both on www.puddltownchess.org and other like-minded organization’s via outreach.
  • Outreach to local and national media to bring visibility to Puddletown’s vision, mission and their community efforts.
  • Community Building by Fostering a sense of community among players, parents and other supporters. Initiate and participate in conversations, address inquiries, and encourage user-generated content. 
Eligibility:
  • Basic understanding of content marketing and social media marketing.
  • 1+ years of education or experience is a huge plus!
  • Some background and interest in chess is appreciated but not required.

Volunteer Software Principal/Architect

Puddletown is seeking a Software Principal/Architect! This person will help Puddletown’s high-school volunteers develop a game-changing software application to help young chess players accelerate their learning and growth. We are looking for a passionate software principal/architect who has experience with the full lifecycle of a secure SaaS-type application (cloud deployment, security, optimization, monitoring, etc.).

Volunteer Chess Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a Chess Teaching Assistant to help us correct chess homework and provide guidance to young players. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our chess instructors, correct homework assignments, and provide feedback to students. No prior teaching experience is necessary – we are looking for individuals who are passionate about chess and enjoy working with children. Join us and become part of a team that is dedicated to making a positive impact!

In this position, you will help mainly with:

  • Collect homework, correct it using your chess knowledge and provide feedback to students.
Eligibility:
  • A USCF or FIDE rating of 1200 or higher is preferred.

Volunteer Casual Chess Nights Leaders

We are looking for enthusiastic Middle School and High School Chess Players who can lead our “casual chess nights” online sessions throughout the year.  As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our founders, help Puddletown beginner students with game analysis, and completing homework. No prior teaching experience is necessary – we are looking for individuals who are passionate about chess and enjoy working with children. Join us and become part of a team that is dedicated to making a positive impact!

In this position, you will lead our weekly online casual Chess nights sessions:

  • Analyze the students’ recent games.
  • Help with class homework.
  • Play casual games with students (and analyze afterwards).
  • Offer advanced puzzles and help if the students need any support.
Eligibility:
  • A USCF or FIDE rating of 1200 or higher is preferred.
