2026 summer - Training program

Puddletown is ready to SOAR into our summer training program, harnessing the warmth of the season to ignite passion, sharpen skills, and foster a dynamic learning experience.

NOTE:

  • Our classes fill up quickly! To get on a waitlist for a class that’s sold out, please reach out to puddletownchess (at) gmail.com
  • If you don’t know which level the player is at, please contact us at puddletownchess (at) gmail.com. We have placement tests to determine player’s level.

Level 1

Absolute Beginner
FREE ($100*)
$100 Deposit Refunded with 80%+ class attendance
  • Weekly Zoom
  • Recommended for: Absolute beginners with no ratings
  • Goal => learn basic chess rules and be familiar with common checkmate patterns
  • Homework -> Evaluation -> In-class Feedback
  • Fridays 5:30pm - 6:30pm Pacific Time
  • Summer Class Dates: 07/10, 07/17, 07/24, 07/31, 08/07, 08/14

Level 2

Beginner
$120/$80
New Students / Current Students
  • Weekly Zoom
  • Recommended for: Players with very basic chess knowledge & interest, with USCF rating 0-300
  • Goal => reach a USCF rating of 300
  • Homework -> Evaluation -> In-class Feedback
  • Fridays 5:30pm - 7:00pm Pacific Time
  • Summer Class Dates: 07/10, 07/17, 07/24, 07/31, 08/07, 08/14

Level 3

Intermediate

  • Weekly Zoom
  • Recommended for: Players with some prior chess knowledge, with USCF rating 200-500
  • Goal => reach a USCF rating of 500
  • Homework -> Evaluation -> In-class Feedback
  • Fridays 5:30pm - 7:00pm Pacific Time
  • Summer Class Dates:07/10, 07/17, 07/24, 07/31, 08/07, 08/14

Level 3 Plus

Intermediate ++

  • Recommended for: Players who spent 2+ terms in Level 3 , with USCF rating 450-700
  • Goal => reach a USCF rating of 750
  • Homework -> Evaluation -> In-class Feedback
  • Fridays 5:30pm - 7:00pm Pacific Time
  • Summer Class Dates: 07/10, 07/17, 07/24, 07/31, 08/07, 08/14

Advanced

  • Goal => reach a USCF rating of 1000

USCF Rating 1000-1300

  • Recommended for: Experienced players with USCF rating 1000-1300
  • Goal => reach a USCF rating of 1400
