Ishaan’s Corner #3: Our Journey into Leadership – From Passion to Purpose

Hey everyone,

My journey began quietly in a kindergarten after-school chess program. At first, chess was just a fun challenge, but over time, it taught me patience, focus, strategy, and resilience.

Chess soon became part of our family life. My brother Neev started almost by accident at one of my tournaments, and before long, we were both learning, competing, and growing through the game.

As I improved, I worked with coaches from around the world and traveled to national tournaments to face stronger competition. Those experiences taught me that growth comes from challenge, discipline, and learning from every loss.

In high school, I began to see how chess connects to leadership and entrepreneurship. The same skills I used on the chessboard — planning ahead, managing risk, and making thoughtful decisions — helped me start new clubs, explore business ideas, and step outside my comfort zone.

Chess taught me that every move matters. Leadership taught me that I do not need to wait until adulthood to begin something meaningful.

Sometimes, one small first move can change everything.

The board is set. Have the audacity to start.
