We’re thrilled to welcome National Master Nicholas Bruha as the newest member of our volunteer team!
Nicholas is currently a sophomore at Northwestern University, where he’s pursuing a double major in economics and biology. Despite his academic workload, he continues to give back to the chess community—a game he’s been passionate about since 3rd grade. His journey in chess has been a constant thread through his life, culminating in the impressive achievement of earning the National Master title in 2022.
For Nicholas, some of his best memories from chess are not just over-the-board victories, but the friendships he’s formed through the game. “Chess has had a very positive influence on me, and by being a coach, I hope to help others enjoy the same benefits,” Nicholas shared.
As part of our team, Nicholas will be serving as an office hour coach, providing support and guidance to players who want to deepen their understanding of the game. He’ll also be a regular presence in our Thursday Lichess Arena tournaments, where you can challenge him under his Lichess handle: Tmoe-nage.
Please join us in giving Nicholas a warm welcome—and don’t be shy about sending him a challenge. Let’s have fun, learn, and grow together!
